Product Description

Review

`This is a valuable polemic, a timely reminder of how little moral advance has been made on the Middle Ages.' - Glasgow Herald

`Indispensable' - The Times

`A delight: at once scholarly and readable, erudite and entertaining ... a work to inform, enlighten and entertain both specialists and general readers.' - Gay and Lesbian Humanist

`Scrupulously researched and academically invaluable, this book is also fascinating for anyone who cares about the way society treats its minorities.' - Wales on Sunday

Product Description

Jeffrey Richards examines dissent and the persecution of heretics, witches, Jews, lepers and homosexuals in the Middle Ages, and argues that the common motive for their punishment was sexual aberrance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A readable and enjoyable book that everyone can read, 7 Jan 2002
By A Customer
This book has been a great joy to use for my history degree course as the content is displayed clearly. Information is easily understandable and digestable. R. I Moore's 'Formation of a persecuting society' also covers similar subjects and both similarly provide very reader friendly historical facts and ideologies. Great books to refer to for medieval minority groups.
