Hugh Leonard is one of modern Ireland's most able and idiosyncratic writers. A master of the written and spoken word, with a fine if short-tempered ear for the absurdities of language and slang, he tells the engaging - and often farfetched - story of a star-struck lover and Western film buff caught in the fine teeth of intrigue, mayhem and uproar. For those who love Leonard's plays - 'Da' for example - this book will be no surprise; for others, it will be a hugely enjoyable introduction to the work of a skilled and personable chronicler of the nonsense and drama of everyday life. Not to be missed.
