5.0 out of 5 stars stories from beyond the bus, 10 Oct 2003
This is a must for anyone who has any interest in Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters. This series of short stories follows (sort of) on from Tom Wolfe's Electric Kool Aid Acid Test. Kesey has moved from the hive of San Fransisco to a farm in Oregon and tries to cope with his fame, writing and moving beyond the bus

5.0 out of 5 stars As good if not better, 17 July 2009
By moonmoth (Glasgow, Strathclyde United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Demon Box (Paperback)
I got into Ken Kesey through reading 'One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest' his first novel which is , quite rightly, his most well known. What I didn't realise until I read Tom Wolfes account of Keseys life after the books publication was that he had a very exciting and hectic life that took him away from writing. Demon Box is a collection of his short stories about the period after the Merry Pranksters and it is absolutley brilliant. One story in particular stands out-written from the stand-point of an old lady visiting his farm whose ruminations start off innocuous enough but build up to a disturbing, brilliant ending. This is not just a collection for Kesey completists but a fascinating window into the mind of an extraordinary writer and man.
