5.0 out of 5 stars Provides wonderful insight into your SID child, 21 Nov 1998
By A Customer
When I read this book, I saw my son in a new light. I was told he had SID, but did not appreciate the impact of SID on his life until I read this book. I found it extremely helpful in discussing my son with his teacher and OT.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for all parents of children with Tourettes, 15 Jan 2001
By k.kilian@hetnet.nl (The Netherlands) - See all my reviews
As a mother of two boys with tourette syndrome, I recommend this book heartily to all other tourettes-parents! It has given us a lot of valuable insights, the main one being that our children feel a NEED to do certain things (like touching certain objects over and over or bumping into each other on purpose or crawling over the rugs whenever there is no structured activity availabe for them) that before we only looked on as tics, but that we can now also explain as deriving from hyposensitiveness to touch.. From other tourettes-parents I know that they experience a lot of the same. Tourettes must probably very often also have SID, may be the two go hand in hand. I do however find that the book is especially valuable for giving insights. I am not so sure about the remedies.

Another book which has helped us greatly is 'The Explosive Child' by Ross W. Greene. It deals with how best to handle very inflexible children - such as many children with TS.
