1.0 out of 5 stars boring, 13 Aug 2006
By Mrs. Samantha J. Foti - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Messenger (Paperback)
I was looking forward to reading the messenger, but now that I have read it all i can say is that Daniel Silva has got stuck. As the story unfolds you will know where the plot is going. In his previous novel's there has been a page turning quality which is sadly missing in this novel. I can only hope that his next book has more to offer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional, 19 Aug 2006
By Dawit Fisseha "Dawit Fisseha" (Geneva, Switzerland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Messenger (Paperback)
Unlike many authors Silva up to now did not have any medicore works but not any exceptional ones either ,where one would recommend a particular work more than the other. The plots, characters and structure were always lifelike and engrossing and overall thoroughly enjoyable. In "The Messenger" he has produced a work which actually rises above these previous and simply is his best work yet.
There is excellent character development of not only the main protagonists but everyone involved as well as vivid scenery descriptions complemented by a structure which can be described as neither serial or pararallel but a bit of both whith just a right amount of each. As a added point endings are where otherwise well developed novels fall apart whereas here "The messenger" keeps its appeal all the way to the end. Its has been frequently said that Silva is enroaching into the levels of Forsyth and the like, in this case this would be a major understatment especially considering the last work of Forsyth "The Afghan" .
