5.0 out of 5 stars Jedi Knight by William C. Dietz, 29 Nov 2001
By A Customer
THE STORY:

The Jedi Knight Kyle Katarn must defeat the evil Dark Jedi Jerec and free the spirits within the Valley of the Jedi if he is to save the New Republic.

THE LIGHT SIDE:

A brilliant written adaption of a great game, this novella fills in all the gaps and has fantastic illustrations by renowned Star Wars artist Dave Dorman. My favourite part of the book was the Battle of Milagro, where we see Kyle and Jan in action alongside our heroes Luke, Han and Leia. And of course, there's no less than five lightsaber duels. And on top of that, there's a fair bit of background info on which the comic book series 'Jedi vs Sith' is based.

THE DARK SIDE:

Dietz's habit of taking minor characters and dedicating large amounts of text to them does slow the pace of the story a little in places.

THE CAMEOS:

Luke Skywalker. Leia Organa. Han Solo. Mon Mothma.

5.0 out of 5 stars As a fan of the game, this is a fulfilling read..., 23 Mar 2000
I have to say I liked this last book in the trilogy even more than Rebel Agent, it's prequel. The illustratons are excellently done by Dave Dorman, and my only gripe is that a couple of them seemed not to be in the right order. The story for this book expands a great deal more on the plot within the game on which it is based. It gives precious insights into what drives the Dark Jedi, and sets a nice backdrop on the planet of Ruusan, where you find the Valley of the Jedi.

My only other gripe with this book were some of the names - they were too much *this* galaxy (Carole? Fido? I ask you...) Nevertheless, I can forgive these oversights, and welcome this book as a worthy addition to my (growing) collection.

So what are you waiting for...?

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy addition to this important thread of Star Wars, 23 Mar 2000
I have to say I was originally sceptical of getting this book - the hardcover nearly put me off. But I went ahead - and I'm glad I did. the illustrations are well executed, and (although it wanders slightly in parts) the story fills in some of the holes in the plot of the game Jedi Knight.

A word of warning here - to get the best out of this book, you should really have played Jedi Knight (one of the best games on the planet IMO). Some of the action scenes jarred with how the game played, but it was mostly faithful (and expanded things that were missing in the game - like lots of aliens etc...)

Anyway, this book is a good read, so if you're a Star Wars fan, go get it!

The illustrations for the book were atsounding and very impressive. The story itself was at its peak for the Star Wars series and computer game, Dark Forces.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was pretty cool.
This was a great book, in my opinion, because it told how Kyle ended up going from an Imperial Officer to a Rebel Agent.
