Product Description

Product Description

Audrey Hepburn, slim, dark, almost waif-like, was a star in an age that favoured well-upholstered blondes; her vitality, innocence and beguiling eyes overrode contemporary conventions of beauty and transported her to the top of Hollywood's tree. In tracking down a number of her closest friends and relations, including international financier Lord Hanson, and talking for the first time to her two husbands, Paris has written the most complete biography of Hepburn to date. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have!, 26 Mar 2002
I've searched over and over for the best AH's biography and i've come to the conclusion that this is it. this book was even better than a novel. i couldn't let it go till i finished it.
it contains every part of her life (well it actually starts when AH is fifteen years old).
It describes everything! From this book you can understand how AH thought and behaved and what the people that surrounded her thought.
The pictures are all in black and white and are great.
It contains her filmography with many details.

My point is that if you get this book you would have had all the knowledge you needed in order to understand and love even more Audrey Hepburn.

4.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional introduction to Audrey, 22 Jan 2005
By Sarah (Northern Ireland) - See all my reviews
I ordered this book from Amazon as way of introduction to Audrey, not knowing much about the woman whose style is continually referenced to in magazines and whose films are frequently shown on television. With a growing interest in Audrey, both in her acting career and her personal life, I found this book an engrossing way to discover more about this fascinating woman's life. Paris covers all aspects of Audrey's childhood, film career and relationshps, from her life-shaping experience of the Second World War, to her two divorces, children and admirable work for UNICEF. While doing so with great respect for a woman who was the epitome of grace and elegance, he doesn't fail to provide the true stories from behind the scenes of the movies and her own personal difficulties. This book is not just an overview of her career, but also an exploration into what made her character. If you want a comprehensive and honest account of Audrey's life, that will equip you with all the knowledge necesssary to become another Audrey buff, then buy this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Quite recommendable, 8 Mar 2004
By A Customer
I am sure all Audrey Hepburn fans will like this biography since it tells her life from the very beginning to the tragic end. However, I feel it is not a too original biography. Mostly it merely lists up dates and quotes from other people, instead of trying to analyse or understand the complex person of Audrey Hepburn better.
Still, I do recommend it for everyone who likes Audrey Hepburn and would like to get to know a little bit more about her and learn some funny "back stage" stories.
