2.0 out of 5 stars Dull dull dull, 1 Mar 2009
By Barney McGrew "Charlie" (UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
After reading Seb Faulks' new Bond adventure 'Devil May Care', I discovered this range of John Gardner official James Bond novels, that he began writing in the 1980's. I have really enjoyed the other Gardner efforts I have read but this is simply dull. The story is bogged-down from the start by tedious explanations of foreign policy and never really ignites. I would actually recommend Gardner's successor - Raymond Benson - over Gardner, as his novels are sexier, more dynamic and much more fun to read. If you want to access Gardner's collection then begin with 'Icebreaker' or 'Scorpio'.
