5.0 out of 5 stars Beep beep! A book worth a look, 27 Jul 2004
By Sebastian Seal (Farne Islands, U.K.) - See all my reviews
Excellent rhymes and a great storyline. I am a Grey Seal pup, and I find this book just right for my reading level and it's a perfect size for my little flippers to hold. It is aimed at human babies and pre-school children, and I'm sure that they will love it. My human owner (an adult) seems to like it too. But between you and me, I think he just looks at the pictures.

The book is printed on thick shiny card with what appears to be a durable spine construction. The book will probably survive the occassional excursion into a child's slavery mouth, but probably not a sustained period in the North Sea. Each page contains a large picture and one rhyming sentence; the plot is driven mostly by the need to rhyme, rather than having any deep or significant meaning, so it is not suitable for toddlers who are looking for a metaphysical discourse on ovine driving abilities.

Like I said at the start, the storyline is fun. It's not very long, so I won't say what it is. However, I find it incredible beyond belief that a group of sheep can drive a jeep but neglect to visit the Woolly Edge service station on the M1! This omission nearly ruined the whole story for me, but the colourful pictures and jolly rhymes saved the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple rhymes; wonderful sense of fun and humor, 11 Dec 2000
Excellent for toddlers (18 months and up) and preschoolers. The plot is simple enough for young children to follow. The illustrations alone would keep them amused. The rhymes are short and simple and appropriate for a wide age range. My 20 month old loves imitating the sheep and requests this book several times a week.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, 10 Sep 2008

I love reading this book to my daughter. I doubt she understands it but she can tune into the rhythms. It's a book with a nice undertow of adult humour so that the adult will enjoy the absurd situations as much as the child.

A fun book to enjoy.
