5.0 out of 5 stars As magical as the World's Fair is to the protaganist, 9 Nov 1999
By A Customer
This book is by far the best I've ever read. Its evocation of childhood causes flashes of vivid recognition, despite the fact that I'm not Jewish and did not grow up in the 1930's Bronx. The book revolves around and leads up to the 1939 New York World's Fair and ends with one of the most poignant scenes in literature. Truly remarkable.
