A very moving book to read indeed. An untouched, isolated, civilised tribe called the Yanomami's are exposed to the greediness of a modern civilisation brought down to Brazil from the capitalist west. Financial riches is the motivation for Gold diggers who destructively cause environmental damages to what was once a serene and natural area. Dollar hungry filmmakers present the innocent Brazilian tribes evil inventions of the western world,knives and guns. To the Yanomami's, they are gifts from a friendly civilisation to another. To the film makers its a different story, the gifts are a good way of gaining audience ratings. Battles with other tribes would bring in the audience and "ka-ching" bring in revenue from advertisers wanting their products to be shown during commercial breaks. To highlight this event, BBC crews joined in on the sinister exploitations,by filming a dying mother and an unborn child. After filming the dying mother and her unborn child, they drove off without taking her and dropping her at a clinic nearby. The whole documentary was edited with additions of sound effects. There are more human exploitations - but I shall not reveal more. The book has received attention from academics around the world and have resulted in them to react to the events written in the book. After reading this book, I can understand why. Had it not been for this book, I wouldn't have known about the atrocities occuring in a land unknown to the Western civilisation, Yanomamiland in Brazil. It is a book studying mankind, and appeals to everybody. Get it and act upon it!!!
