Product Description

Product Description

Imagine a flat world, sitting on the backs of four elephants, who hurtle through space balanced on a giant turtle. The Discworld is a place (and a time) parallel to our own - but also very different. That is the setting for Terry Pratchett's phenomenally successful Discworld series, which now celebrates its 25th anniversary. The Discworld Graphic Novels presents the very first two volumes of this much-loved series in graphic novel form. First published fifteen years ago, these fully illustrated versions are now issued for the first time in hardback. Introduced here are the bizarre misadventures of Twoflower, the Discworld's first ever tourist, and possibly - portentously - its last, and his guide Rincewind, the spectacularly inept wizard. Not to mention the Luggage, which has a mind of its own.

After reading these ages ago in softbook i remember saying to myself god i wish these where in hardback , low and behold they did it, the story is just amazing as always from terry and the artists did a cracking job when they first released it and now its just as good if not better today, well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Colour of Magic/Light Fantastic, 9 Mar 2009

I bought this item after watching the BBC 2 programme that showed a year in the life of Terry Pratchett after he was diagnosed with Alzheimers. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and have since purchased the next 5 in the series and am eager for more. If you enjoy stories of wizards, witches and monsters told in a lighthearted way then this is the book for you. Fairy tales for adults! Rincewind the failed wizard is one of my favourite characters - the definitive antihero.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'm not particularly used to any Discworld illustration that isn't mine or Paul Kidby's..., 22 Aug 2008
And anyway, it's very lightly adapted- not adapted enough to make it enjoyable or dramatic, but some of the artwork is amazing. Although Paul Kidby rules all the way, BIG time (in my humble opinion), I would definately recommend this to anyone who hasn't read the books, then they can read the actual books and find out what Scott Rockwell has cut out of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A vision of the Disc
An excellent adaptation of the original book even if it does miss out a lot of the hilariously dreadful puns. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars no more graphics!
The plot of this book is impossible to follow, the dialogue is misspelled, and the characters do not look at all like I imagined.I will never buy another graphic novel!
