Product Description

There's a new arrival - a mysterious and exotic young princess - at court and Lady Grace can't believe how many rumours there are about her already. The exiled Banoo Yasmine from Sharakand is a beautiful girl with a pet panther and - everyone believes - magical powers. Yasmine also possesses the renowned Heart of Kings Ruby - a huge stone that she wears around her neck to balls and feasts, that legend says has the power to make kings. When the famed jewel goes missing, the finger is pointed at Grace's dear friend Ellie the laundrymaid. Grace must prove her friend's innocence, find the true thief and restore the stone to its rightful owner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent book from the Lady Grace series., 3 Jun 2005
By Rebecca Herman (USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the fifth book in the Lady Grace Mysteries series, about Lady Grace Cavendish, a thirteen-year-old Maid of Honour at the court of Queen Elizabeth I.

It's January 1570, and a new visitor is arriving at court. Banoo Yasmine is a young noblewoman from the Middle Eastern country of Sharkand. When the king of Sharkand was overthrown, Banoo Yasmine's family was murdered because they had supported him, and only she escape. In England, she hopes to regain her fortune so she can return to Sharakand and restore the rightful ruler, and has decided to ask the Queen for help. However, soon after Banoo Yasmine arrives, the Heart of Kings, the famed ruby of Sharakand, disappears. Grace's friend Ellie, a young laundrymaid at the palace, is blamed for the theft when the ruby is found in her laundry basket. Grace knows Ellie would never steal and is determined to find the real thief before her friend is punished for something she did not do.

I loved the first four Lady Grace mysteries and am pleased to say I loved this one as well. As always, Grace is a great character who brings to life the world of Elizabethan England, and the historical details are excellent. I can't wait to read the upcoming books in this series. I would recommend this series to readers who love historical mysteries or who have a special interest in the Elizabethan era.

5.0 out of 5 stars exile lady grace mysterys, 15 Oct 2005
By A Customer
I am the 11 year old daughter of a headteacher in Tamworth and so far i have read every single one of the lady grace mysterys. Exile is the fifth book in the lady grace mysterys and is brilliant.

It is january 1570. An exile lady from a far off land has come to court.Banoo (lady)Yasmine brings with her a pet panther, a large entourage and a giant ruby, the heart of kings ruby. when the jewel goes missing and the finger of blame is pointed at Ellie ,one of Grace's friends she must do everything she can too make the real theif known.

Anyone who likes mysterys with a bit of fact woven in will find this book irresistable and will not be able to put it down. For age 8 reders and above
