'A brilliant young writer of wit and subtlety' THE TIMES; 'Hugely popular with seven to ten year olds: she should be prescribed for all cases of reading reluctance' INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY; 'Has a rare gift for writing lightly and amusingly about emtional issues' BOOKSELLER

Product Description

Fourteen-year-old Prue and her sister Grace have been educated at home by their controlling, super-strict father all their lives. They know they are different to 'normal' girls but their attempts to find out what being an ordinary teenager are like - buying nice clothes instead of wearing Mum's odd hand-made garments, reading teenage magazines etc - are greeted with fury by their Dad. But when Dad has a stroke and ends up in hospital, unable to move or speak, Prue suddenly discovers what it's like to have a little freedom. Unable to cope with their education and a sick husband, the girls' mother sends them to the local comp and they experience school life for the first time. Prue had never thought it would be so bitchy and that she'd find it so hard to fit in. The only person she can talk to is her kindly, young, handsome Art teacher, Rax. She and Rax bond over art lessons, and soon he asks to babysit for his young children while he and his wife have a night out on a Friday. This becomes a regular 'date' and Prue can't wait for the ten minutes they have along together as he drives her home. As her feelings for Rax develop, she begins to realise that perhaps he feels the same way about her. But he can't act upon them, can he? An absorbing portrait of a forbidden relationship for teenage readers from the mega best-selling Jacqueline Wilson.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read!, 10 Oct 2005
'Love Lessons' is a thrilling book, and definately one which Wilson fans should read. The story is about a 14 year old girl named Prue who falls in love with her art teacher Mr Raxberry, or Rax. This book portrays the taboo relationship between teacher and pupil, and as a long- awaited book, it does not fail to disappoint!

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE LESSONS, 17 Mar 2006
A great book! though if you're not into romance beter not even touch the cover...LOVE LESSONS is another great book written by Jacqueline Wilson for teenage girls. I liked it very much. The book is about a girl called Prue that has a VERY strict father. He doesn't even let her go to school! How bad(or good) is that! If you want to know more read the book (or at least the synopsis).

4.0 out of 5 stars Love Lessons, 14 Feb 2006
By Laura Wood (Norwich) - See all my reviews
This book has seemingly covered all aspects of the teenagers life, and never before has a book been written which my own feelings are portrayed in so deeply. Jaqueline has shown exactly how a teenager should feel and Wilson always seems to come up trumps with things that people always talk and worry about and can explain and show it in writing. Adn amazing book... nice one.
