This is a very good read. Cornwell takes an overview of John Paul's pontificate. I didn't agree with most of his conclusions, but this didn't detract from the book. However, a better book looking at Catholicism today is the unusual From Gangland to promised Land by Greg Watts and John Pridmore. This was a really upifting book.
