5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Read, 13 Sep 2005
It's a shame that such a stunning novel like the traveller is constantly being compared to puppy fiction e.g. Dan Browns - The Da Vinci Code. Twelve Hawks has managed to create a book that hasn't been simply to cash in on the sci-fi/fantasy bandwagon. In recent years fantasy fiction has been drowned by poor authors trying to make a few pounds writing a book that has already been written hundreds of time. Its good to see twelve hawks giving the sci fi/fantasy genre a kick up the backside ( a much needed kick at that).
A great book that should be read by any TRUE fan of sci fi and fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Gripping, 10 Aug 2007
I really enjoyed The Traveler - it is a book I have been meaning to read for a long time and it did not disappoint. The plot is expertly crafted and very well written with some strong characters and ideas, particularly with the cross over between fact and fiction. I hooked on to the character of Maya to take me on this particular journey and cannot wait to read the second of the trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stick with it, 20 Jul 2006
By Darren J. Stott (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As I'd never heard of this book when I bought it, I didn't have any initial expectations. Only afterwards did I learn of the 'hype' surrounding it. I think this turned out to be a good thing as I got the chance to judge the story at face value.
The book started out quite vague, there was a lot of information (Tabula, Pathfinders, Harlequins etc.) that was discussed but not explained. This led me to think that the book as a whole was dissapointing. I was wrong. The time to judge a book is after it has been read, not before or during. By doing this I can now say that The Traveler is a great book. I think the overall concept was good, and it certainly made me see the world in a whole new way.

Some people were annoyed that they had anticipated an ending only to find that there wasn't one as this is only the first book in a trilogy. I think that made it even more exciting as no longer was this a gripping book, but only the first of three! This book certainly sets the stage for an even bigger story to come, and I can't wait.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good little book, but "Behind the Dark Curtain" was better
"The Traveler" was a good little book but lacked the awsome feel of Adam W. Gibson's "Behind the Dark Curtain" A must read for any fan of the genre!
