5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating study of a tricky subject, 11 Oct 2009
By Justin Radnor (Northampton) - See all my reviews
Adam Bellow claimed in an interview that the only reason his work found a publisher was because he's the son of Saul. Don't believe it; the book is a fascinating study of subject most would either instinctively condemn, or, if they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth themselves, prefer not to think about out of embarassment.

There's a rather nice quote in this book from a university professor: `Throughout the animal kingdom, nepotism is the norm for social species. I go further: the practice of nepotism defines social species'. Bellow's line (if I can sum it up in a sentence) is that as civilised human beings we should exercise the instinct for nepotism, like our other natural urges, with judgement, but without unhealthy embarrassment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shameful, 5 Aug 2007
By Mr. W. James Mcateer "jim.mcateer@bigfoot.com" (Ilford, Essex UK) - See all my reviews

It would be useful to read nepotism defended by one who has not benefited so extravagantly from this reactionary disease. Thankfully the 1c value placed his "work" by Amazon.com marketplace sellers makes the point better than words.

His father, the peerless liberal Jewish author Saul, will be spinning in his grave.
