5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite in the series, 25 May 1999
By A Customer
Bohemian Murders offers the best of Fremont Jones. The setting is beautiful - the dramatic coast of Carmel, Pacific Grove. I love the author's detail about what the area looked like at the turn of the century. How long it took to get from Pacific Grove to Carmel in a buggy going up the big hill is a reminder about technological changes - today you can get between the two towns in about 10 minutes! Fremont is making her way doing two jobs - lighthouse keeper and typist. Her daily exploits and the mystery that evolves are believable. I enjoyed her "companion's" bohemian phase and the friends he brought into the story. Her persistence in uncovering the mystery made sense and the facts were uncovered appropriately. The combination of the mystery and the atmosphere of Carmel and Pacific Grove at the time are blended masterfully.

1.0 out of 5 stars How did this book got published?, 8 July 1998
By A Customer
There are some books one wonders if ever an editor had an eye on them. Bohemian Murder is such a one. There are passages where I have been speechless. For example when the heroine tells her ex-lover about finding a dead woman there is no sign of surprise in him - as if it is quite natural finding dead women in the sea. Or when she talks to another woman and tells her that she is such a wonderful narrator - although the other woman said only two sentences. I found this book most disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed after the first two books, 29 Jun 1999
By A Customer
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, but was totally disappointed with this book. I loved the location and descriptions having recently visited the area. However, I disliked the plot just couldn't hold my interest. Felt that Michael's personality change was never explained to my liking and wanted to see the development of his character continue. I belong to a lot of discussion on line lists and have recommended the first and second books, but have not recommended this one.
