Book Description
Danielle Steel takes us beyond the dazzle of Hollywood in her compelling new novel – the story of one woman's intoxicating journey from suburban mom to award-winning screenwriter...
and all the joy, heartbreak, and impossible choices along the way. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

From the Inside Flap
The phone call came on a hot July day – a day like any other for Marin County mom and freelance writer Tanya Harris. But this call – from Tanya’s agent – was anything but ordinary, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: the chance to write a major Hollywood screenplay, a dream she had put aside long ago to devote her energies to her family. This time, Tanya knows she cannot refuse, even though she’s torn about leaving her husband and their daughters. From the moment she steps into her lush bungalow at the fabled Beverly Hills Hotel, Tanya is thrust into an intoxicating new world where she feels reborn – energized by the creativity swirling around her – yet the pull of her family at home is strong.

Suddenly she’s working alongside A-list actors and a Hollywood legend: Oscar-winning producer Douglas Wayne, a man who always gets what he wants – and who seems to have his sights set on her. Flying home between shoots, struggling to reconnect with a family that seems to need her less and less, Tanya watches helplessly as her old life is pulled out from under her in the most crushing of ways.

As her two lives collide, as one award-winning film leads to another, Tanya begins to wonder if she can be a wife, a mother, and a writer at the same time. And just as she confronts the toughest choice she has faced, she is offered another dazzling opportunity – one that could recast her story in an amazing new direction, complete with an ending she never could have written herself.

In Bungalow 2, Danielle Steel takes us into a world few ever see – a world of fame and fortune, celebrity and genius – daring to show us the real lives, real dreams, and real struggles hidden beneath the flash and glitter of Hollywood. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book.. I am so disappointed From DS fans, 28 Aug 2007

I think Danielle Steel really not bothered the plot anymore. Same plot as all her old books...the only thing she had changed that the title of the book ,and the name of chararters. £3.99 is ok for holiday read. I won't never pay Danielle Steel's book more than £4.00.

2.0 out of 5 stars I have read a number of Danielle Steel novels, 21 Nov 2007
By 1BranDevX™ "BD" (Southern U.S.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bungalow 2 (Hardcover)
and I would have to say that Bungalow 2 is about average for her, certainly not her best. I was hoping for a more in-depth real life mother character in Tanya Harris, and her writing experiences, but that never happened. The story chugs along for the first 80 or so pages, then it picks up. Ms. Steel left no doubt that Tanya was at the center of this story from stay at home mom, to a screen writer in Hollywood, to her extra affairs in the Bungalow. Busy, busy girl. I won't go into detail about the book as there are many posted already, except to add that this is a good book to read at the beach. It's not a terrible read, but I wouldn't recommend it to my friends. I'm still a fan Ms. Steele and I'll probably go on reading her new releases, unless the stories are at the same average level as this book. Skip it. I would recommend, if you missed reading Georgiou's masterpiece--The Fates, go and read it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 10 Oct 2007
By busy lizzy (Hampshire, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bungalow 2 (Hardcover)
The jacket flap says the reader will be taken to a world of fame and fortune, celebrity and genius, and the glitter of Hollywood.... The wrong story must have been included. I did not get any sense of the film world, it was just about a wife and mothers choice to persue a career and the affect it had on the family. I think Ms. Steel has lost the plot. In fact it feels like someone else is writing for her. It doesn't have the same flow as previous novels of hers. This book is so boring. She repeats facts about the characters many times even on the same page. I felt that I was reading her notes that had been cut and pasted into place. The 338 pages could be condensed into less than 100 with no loss of plot. Half way through the book and I still did not know where the story was going, neither did I care really, so I gave up. Which is a shame because I have enjoyed reading all her books, but have been very disappointed with the later ones. Do any other DS fans feel the same?
