3.0 out of 5 stars Good...but basic, 7 Mar 2007
By Jaw "Dan" (St. Albans, England) - See all my reviews
This book prints the entirety of Blake's poetry and prose. It reproduces Blake's original spelling and punctuation, which can be useful or irritating depending on your viewpoint. This product is obviously aimed at an academic audience; the letters and annotations are probably only necessary for really serious Blake readers. Although Harrold Bloom's notes are good, they have a tendency to be quite cryptic and seem to assume a prior knowledge of Blake's ideas. For the casual reader, or even the student, I would advise the Longman edition, which has more thorough notes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, 27 May 2009

As an A-level English teacher I would echo the sentiments expressed by the previous reviewer. Quite a dense text; this is really only suitable for Blake scholars and undergraduates; there are more accessible Blake collections out there.
