5.0 out of 5 stars Children's Classic, 9 Jan 2005
By A Customer
If you have read The Midnight Folk or The Box of Delights by John Masefield and liked them, you should read this if you haven't already. A children's adventure story about what happens when Crown Prince Michael of Astalon discovers that his father's kingdom is in terrible danger from the mysterious people who live underground, and how he saves the day with help from his talking cat Mickle, a crabby horse called Minerva, and a giant Earthworm called Glob.
It's not just for the kiddies though- a sharp sense of humour, beautifully drawn characters, and a wildly imaginative, twisty story makes it enjoyable for anyone. The kind of book you'll read over and over.
