Amazon.co.uk Review

Fans waiting for a new instalment of the Terminator saga can stave off the cravings a little longer with T2: Infiltrator, an official sequel to the film franchise. The adventure kicks off after the end of the last film, with Sarah and her son John, who was hunted by the last Terminator unit, settling in Paraguay. Things are fine and dandy until one day Sarah encounters another "Arnold" unit in the town square. He's not, however, another killer robot but a former terrorist who served as the physical model for the Terminators. He tells Sarah that Cyberdyne, the company that created the killer cyborgs and was thought destroyed by Sarah in the film, has backup systems that must also be eliminated if they are to prevent the destruction of the human race.

Predictably, another evil Terminator unit is hot on their heels but this one is slightly different to its predecessors--it has taken the form of a beautiful woman and is the deadliest yet.

Heavily rumoured to follow the proposed plot of the third film (should it happen), Infiltrator is a solid story and well-written by genre veteran SM Stirling, though it does sag in places. The action is competently handled but never matches the adrenaline-pumping special effects of the big screen outings. The characters are well handled, especially Dieter whose path to redemption is sound and logical, and the female Terminator offers plenty of feisty femme-fatale action. The ending has a little less "whizz-bang" than the build-up suggests but paves the way for further promised "book" sequels. --Jonathan Weir --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

Following the events of TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY, Sarah and John Conner fled to Paraguay to disappear. But one day Sarah spots an 'Arnold' Terminator unit in the town square. A cat-and-mouse game ensues before she realises he is not a Terminator but the actual man -- an ex-counter-terrorist named Dieter, whom the Terminators were modelled on. After Sarah shares her story with him, Dieter tells her that Cyberdyne (the company which will build the computers that will destroy civilization and create the Terminators) is up and running again, thanks to its backup systems. So she, John and Dieter set off to finish the job. But standing in their way is the most dangerous Terminator unit yet. It can easily pass as human, it has all the resources of Cyberdyne, as well as several 'Arnold' Terminators at its command, and it's in the guise of a woman.

5.0 out of 5 stars A worthy sequel to Terminator 2, 22 Jul 2001
By A Customer
I saw this book in a bookshop, and had no choice but to buy it as Terminator 2 has been one of my all time favourite movies.

The book fits wonderfully into the terminator universe that was created in both films, and there are a few direct quotes in the book from both movies. I'm not going to give away any of the plot, but the events are pluasible (in the T2 universe neway ^_^) and fit in with the general theme of the movies.

Overall, a very entertaining read. If this gets made into T3, it would be excellent. Then again, the last I heard was that James Cameron wasn't going to direct T3 and T4, which is a tragic shame.

4.0 out of 5 stars A novel that is true to the original story lines., 17 May 2001
This review is from: T2: Infiltrator (Hardcover)
Being a big Terminator fan and having watched both movies several times and read the novels too I was pleased to see this book available. I've never even heard of the author but enjoyed it a great deal. If you like the terminator world and have seen at least T2 you should enjoy this book too. If you haven't seen either film you really should before starting this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great film deserves a great book, 4 Sep 2002

And thats just what it got. As a big Terminator fan, particularly T2, I enjoyed this book throughly.

The development of characters, both established and new, was excellent and in keeping with the style of the films.

The main ingredients of the films were found here - action, paranoia, fear and strength in times of adversity.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed T2 (and wondered what the long road had ahead for the Connors)
