Product Description

Review

"Duncan's writing is fast paced and engaging. Stalwart teeters convincingly between teenage angst and adult responsibilities. Emerald is no hapless damsel in distress."-- "SLJ""The estimable Duncan manages, somehow, to be in tremendous form every time out."-- "Kirkus Reviews""Duncan is a true master of his craft."-- "SF Site""There are some serious threats, a painful betrayal, and even a little soul-searching, but a lot less pain and angst than in the "Blades" novels, for a fun adventure in this intriguing world."-- "Locus""For panache, style, and sheer storytelling audacity, Duncan has few peers." -- "Kirkus Reviews.".".a wonderful series which both young adults and adults will enjoy." -- "Writer's Write"

Synopsis

Sir Stalwart and Emerald set off for an ancient lord's house known as Smealey Hall, where they believe the source of evil--in the form of murder--lies, and along the way they are joined by Badger, a Blade-in-training.

1.0 out of 5 stars Teenage Trash, 27 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Teenage Swordsman and Teenage Witch ride off to investigate the public magical murder of the King's old pal, inadvertently taking Teenage Traitor with them... The characterisation is cardboard, the plot pathetic, the bad guys so inept they need help with their shoelaces. Does not compare with "A Man of His Word". Recommended reading for pre-teens.
