This book wasnt bad, but it certainly wasnt good. The reader was never touched by the love between the two women, nor did I become attached to the characters at all. The desciption of their relationship is shaky at best, and it was difficult to relate to any of their feelings because the desciptive imagry takes up the whole book, leaving no place for the interaction which is desperatly needed. The book failed to climax or rise to some exeptional conclusion. When you finish the book, you sit there saying to yourself, "What was the point of reading this?" there was no satisfaction in reading this book. If anything, go read 'Tipping the velvet' or 'Beond the pale' Both were historical lesbian fiction and hundreds of times more enchanting.

This is a beautifully crafted story about two woman who have a strong relationship and who overcome their every day problems and the predudices of their time and environment. The sense of place is very strong and the novel leaves you feeling that reading it has been a very worthwhile experience. Highly recomend.
