Product Description

Synopsis

Making their way beneath the Antarctic ice toward the center of the world, a team of specialists traverses rocks, caverns, and underground rivers in darkness, not knowing the incredible wonders--and terrors beyond imagination--that lie ahead.

From the Author

Two miles under Antarctica, adventures awaits . . .
Who isn’t afraid of being lost in perpetual darkness, where your next step could kill or maim you? Where behind you something tracks you by the scent of your own fear? You can hear it breathing, hear the scrape of its claws. What do you do?

In my first novel, SUBTERRANEAN, I sought to merge my background in evolutionary biology and my interest in cave exploration to create a world hidden deep under Antarctic ice . . . to take you to a cavernous land that has never been seen before, where wonders and horrors are around every corner, and each step could be your last . . . and where awaits a mystery older than man.

So grab a hand lantern, check the batteries, and come on down . . . to the world beneath the world. The adventure awaits!

5.0 out of 5 stars I consider this the best of all his books, 5 Aug 2006

(REAL NAME)
What a superb book - the story tied up all the loose ends, the non-stop action, and believable characters - James Rollins is the master of suspense - can't wait to read Black Order.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastical underground adventure, 11 Jun 2002
Ignore any reviews that suggest that this book lacks credability because it reads like an adventure movie - it's supposed to. It's a fast paced exciting tale that takes you away from the mundane and into the magical world of James Rollins, who for me is one of the best adventure writers out there. He has a real passion for what he does and it shows in what he writes.

The underground world described in Subterranean is a vivid backdrop to a tale that keeps you asking for hints as to how the "good guys" get out alive. I strongly recommend to all you four-hour thrill seekers out there that you buy this book, and take comfort in the knowledge that there are three others for you to sink your teeth into once you've flipped the last page!

5.0 out of 5 stars Underground, adventure, not everyone survives..., 13 Mar 2006
By A Customer
I can't believe I have only just discovered James Rollins, if you haven't read him yet and you like adventure, you have to buy this book!! I didn't enjoy this as much as excavation and this lacks the creepiness. However this is also un-put-down-able and very very good. Read it, you won't be sorry!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly outstanding first effort from James Rollins.
