5.0 out of 5 stars a fascinating look into the imagination of a songwriter, 17 Jan 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Passionate Eye (Hardcover)
...I was pleased to discover that it was not a let-down. Despite having read mixed reviews I found this to be a fascinating look into the workings of Suzanne's mind and the past influences of one of the best singer-songwriters of the last twenty years.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty disappointing - esp. as I love her music so much, 6 Nov 2002
By A Customer
Vega's music is up there in my top 5 fave artists so I was very much looking forward to this book. However, I was very disappointed to see it padded with her lyrics - I already have them, thanks! - and to see elements of bad grammar (doesn't know the difference between whom/who and confuses who's and whose) which surprised me greatly given that her command of English is so good. Some of the poetry was a bit childish - no, not childlike, but childish - and clumsy. Occasionally she totally hits the mark and produces her trademark gems of observation and wit, but these were few and far between. I feel like I have a better insight into her life and times, though, and would recommend this book despite my reservations about her as a poet and writer. More music please, or maybe a proper autobiography?!
