Product Description

Product Description

Describes different types of social anxiety, including public speaking and dating, explains the biological causes of anxiety, and suggests treatments.

From the Author

Finally, a book that brings what helps to the reader.
It normally takes five to ten years for important researchfindings to reach the public. In our book, "The Hidden Face of Shyness," we bring the person suffering from social anxiety the good news reaped from several years of intensive study. Yes, social phobia has been a neglected disorder. But recent years have reaped new understanding and new effective treatments. We provide this information so that the person with extreme shyness or performance anxiety can self-treat or at least locate appropriate resources for help. We include chapters on medication, self-help, self-testing, the causes of shyness, and parenting the shy child. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

This book is well organized and has great deal of information about shyness in psychological/ biologicaal and evolutionary aspects. I don't know whether or not it will help you motivate overcome a person's shyness but good book to read to learn about shyness.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for someone living with a shy person, 9 Oct 1998
By A Customer
I found this book extremely informative, expecially for someone living with a shy person. By reviewing all of the possible causes of anxiety, the authors helped me to realize that there are "explanations" for this problem. As a result, we should not hold the shy person fully responsible for having this condition. Nonetheless, as the authors point out, there is certainly room for improvement!
