2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, 14 Mar 2000
By A Customer
Not as good as some of her other books. Hawk is a bit too unbelievable as the hero. If anyone had acted towards me as he acted towards the heroine at the beginning I would have dropped him fast or called the police. OK we like our heroes tough and masculine but I think Hawk is a bit too extreme and is downright nasty in some places.

Also there is too much about fishing in this book. I don't think there are too many women out there who care to know so much about it. She devotes pages to it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Pride and Prejudice???, 26 Mar 1999
By A Customer
Can Lowell write a story without any of the characters being psychopathically prejudiced?? I doubt it. The man doesn't trust women; the woman is weeping and wailing and playing the martyr. She needs to come up with new characters and new people; people who are normal and don't have so much baggage. Also, this whole "I would have killed him if he had touched you," macho line needs to be removed from romance books. I don't think a man who is ready to KILL is sexy; he is a maniac and needs a shrink. You write well Ms. Lowell just stop writing for your publisher and start writing for yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars a paranoid, cynical, misogynist does not a hero make, 8 Feb 1999
By A Customer
Angel is lucky that Hawk (jeez, the idiocy of the names and metaphores!) didn't turn out to be a psychopathic killer. She trusted this guy because she saw something in his eyes? So he had an unhappy childhood, poor baby.
