Isle of View is one of the best books that i have read of the Xanth series, and there have been quite a few! I love this book so much because it is not only full of adventure and has enough amusing moments to make you laugh out loud on several occasions, but it also deals with emotions. In a slightly obscure way, it reminded me of the classic She by H Rider Haggard in that the underlying theme of the book is about making decisions and the consequences that follow. Dolph has to decide whether to marry the beautiful Nada Naga (who he loves but she doesn't love him) or plainer, but equally nice Electra (who does love him although he doesn't really love her). Anyway it all gets very complicated with the added troubles in Xanth for them to contend with as well, which i thought were well written, both familiar and different, which makes for a thoroughly interesting read. Isle of View is a continuation of the Xanth series that would definately appeal to fans (as an update of life away from mundania!) although it could be read independantly of the series and still be enjoyable.
