1.0 out of 5 stars Hippy trippy nonsense, 26 April 2009
By Richard Montgomery - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
All copies of this book should have self destructed in 1974. It is utterly inpenatrable to anyone who hasn't read the complete works of Moorcock and is not on LSD while they read. Moorcock has a bad habit of returning constantly to characters from previous books who were already 2 dimensional and uninteresting and do not benifit from a revisit. It is one of Moorcock's largely unreadable books (which from my experience so far makes up about 70% of his output. The real shame is that basic structure is an interesting idea; two woman time travel from the beginning to the end various alternative twentieth centuries. But the book is wrecked by its silly 1970's obsessions. If Moorcock maybe tried a new version of this story but without the psycadelia and lesbian sex fantasies and with some proper charectisation and plotting I would give it another chance.
