Came across this book whilst doing a children's literature course in 1993, have been trying to buy my own copy ever since and only just found it back in print here.

This book is a sensitive study of a child's reaction to death. It is beautifully written and illustrated, and the story is moving but never heavy-handed. This is not a "how-too" book but rather the story of one little girl's goodbye to a beloved uncle. It's very subtle in its approach but no less powerful for it. It offers useful insight to adults as well as children into how we grieve and how to say goodbye. You will not find a better or more thoughtful children's book about grief.
