3.0 out of 5 stars Wacko Jacko !! Outlander Nazi's !!, 5 Sep 2007
By Mr. R. Coleman (Marlow, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Hell Rising is the 14th book in Outlanders series, and to be honest it is not going to set the world alight, other than in a Sky-dark fictional sense.

The book is split in two, with the inhabitants of the Cerberus redoubt going on two very different adventures. The first is to the frozen wastes of Antarctica, where the group encounter a re-animated Nazi freezie, intent on breeding a race of human-abominable snowman hybrids. And the second revisiting England where the ongoing fight between the British hybrid Imperium and the Celts is potentially coming to an explosive finale.

The main story of the book concerns itself with the new Caretaker of the Imperium Aubrey Quayle discovering the secrets of a newly risen Atlantis outpost and the Kane and Grants rush to try and stop him from destroying a part of the northern hemisphere

My main problem with this book is that I found the shorter Nazi storyline far better than the longer Anglo-Celt war. I also don't like the other life flashbacks that Kane keeps getting when dealing with Fand. I would much prefer that the Ex-magistrate outcasts stuck to the War with the Archon Barons of the new USA. Well...........that is with a few frozen bad-ass Nazi's thrown in for good measure !!

To me this will just be another book in the series, that will sit on the shelf next to others of better quality and story lines But I have no doubt that followers of James Axler/James Lawrence's post apocalyptic Deathlands/ Outlanders books will get this book if only to fill in the gap between books 13 and 15 !!!
