5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 24 Aug 2007
By Roisin (Ireland) - See all my reviews
A Note of Madness is one of the best books I have ever read. The main character is Flynn, a young musical genius who begins to experience wild mood swings. Flynn, as well as his friends Harry and Jennah, are all so well described that I felt like I knew them as people, felt like I was living right beside them as events unfolded, and missed them desperately when I was finished the book. Although the novel deals with the very serious issue of mental illness, it's beautifully and simply written. You won't regret buying this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Note of Madness, 1 Mar 2007
This is such a great book, I couldn't put it down. The story is told from the main character Flynn's point of view. You're really sucked into his world, and I think this is what helps make the book so convincing and emotional. The musical element was what originally attracted me to the book, but now I would recommend it to anyone in search of a good read, musical or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully written, and much needed literature, 25 Aug 2006
By M. L. Daniel "Satnin" (York, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've just finished reading A Note of Madness, and I enjoyed every minute I spent reading it. It was hard to put it down at times, it was such a rollercoaster of emotion. I laughed and cried along with Flynn, and it felt like I was right there in the midst of the story.
But A Note of Madness is more than just a story, of course. Bipolar disorder, commonly known as manic depression happens to young people all across the world. It is very real. The thing about A Note of Madness is that it captures the very essence of how it feels to live with mental illness, and it doesn't wrap the subject up with an unrealistic fairy-tale ending. You live with mental illness, and you can live a normal life, but it's not something that just disappears completely. A Note of Madness is a realistic story that offers hope. It should be made compulsory reading for all teenagers, because there are so many out there who go through these things and don't know what is happening to them.
Tabitha Suzuma has written a wonderfully evokative book. A fantastic new talent.
I very much look forward to the sequel to A Note of Madness!
