5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 24 Aug 2007
By Roisin (Ireland) - See all my reviews
A Note of Madness is one of the best books I have ever read. The main character is Flynn, a young musical genius who begins to experience wild mood swings. Flynn, as well as his friends Harry and Jennah, are all so well described that I felt like I knew them as people, felt like I was living right beside them as events unfolded, and missed them desperately when I was finished the book. Although the novel deals with the very serious issue of mental illness, it's beautifully and simply written. You won't regret buying this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Note of Madness, 28 Feb 2007
This is such a great book, I couldn't put it down. The story is told from the main character Flynn's point of view. You're really sucked into his world, and I think this is what helps make the book so convincing and emotional. The musical element was what originally attracted me to the book, but now I would recommend it to anyone in search of a good read, musical or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping story beautifully told, 24 Feb 2007
I am an adult reader and after reading this book thought I would write in to recommend it to other adults as it is a truly exceptional novel that should not be missed by anyone of any age. From the first page I was instantly absorbed into the lives of the heroes, and indeed they carried on to haunt me far beyond I turned the very last. Even if one's not a musician and one's never been officially 'depressed', so much rings true that one cannot fail to identify with the characters in the book. Despite the serious subject matter, it is ultimately an uplifting and inspirational story, and personally I cannot wait for Suzuma's next novel.
