Product Description

Auntie Sue is getting married and she's asked Daisy to be her bridesmaid. But Daisy doesn't do dresses and she certainly doesn't do lovely. Daisy wants to wear a football kit, or scuba gear, or her leopard skin suit, but Mum and Auntie Sue drag her off to the dress shop. Daisy thinks everything is 'Yuk!' until she finally manages to strike a deal and design her own dress ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Yuk! is brilliant, 31 Jul 2004

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Auntie Sue is getting married, and she and Daisy's mum want Daisy to be a bridesmaid. Daisy, however, does not want to wear a soppy bridesmaid's dress because she doesn't do dresses. She suggests wearing her football gear, a scuba diving outfit, a leopardskin suit etc, but mum and auntie don't approve. So they take the reluctant Daisy to the brideswear shop, and she has to try on a succesion of dresses, each more revolting than the last "Yuk!" she says to all of them. Then she has the bright idea of designing her own bridesmaid dress, a unique ensemble which causes quite a sensation at the wedding. This is a delightful book, a very funny story with bright, bold illustrations and a charmingly resolute heroine. My six-year-old and three-year-old both love it and have had it read to them over and over again. It's the sort of book that parents will enjoy as much as the children.
