"'FEMALE FANTASY OFF THE LEASH.' NEW WOMAN"

Product Description

When a mysterious young man stumbles into the life of the recently widowed Claudia, he reignites her sleeping sexuality. But is the handsome and angelic Paul really a combination of innocent and voluptuary, amnesiac and genius? Claudia's friends become involved in trying to decide whether or not he is to be trusted. As an erotic obsession flowers between Paul and Claudia, and all taboos are obliterated, his true identity no longer seems to matter.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the first..., 15 Feb 2009
...erotic novels written by a woman that I ever read. And by that I mean: one of the first that spoke to me as a girl/woman, and told me that I was not alone in wanting something other than the Ray Gordon type sex machine in every orifice bonk-a-thon.

Not that The Stranger has no rudies in it, however. It does. It's sexy and wild and sexy and lovely, and it would hold a place in my heart whether it was one of the books that influenced me and opened my eyes or not. Its status as a classic of the genre, a classic to me, and a really good read are all intertwined, and on all levels it can be recommended.

If you love erotica- or even if you love really hot romance- The Stranger must be read. Portia Da Costa must be read. In fact, don't just buy this book. Buy In Too Deep, too, and see how a master of the genre has not only kept up the quality of this early work, but continues to mature and produce wonderful books that are now both erotic, and firmly romantic.

Can't recommend enough, in case you haven't guessed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rather Tame for Erotica Today, But Well Crafted, 19 April 2007
By Clifford (Weymouth, Dorset, UK) - See all my reviews
Black Lace have an enviable reputation as publishers of mildly erotic romantic novels, and I bought this one because it had been given an award for erotic literature, and I wanted to see just how erotic I found it. It seems that the award was more for the plot than for its erotic content, because I found the sex very muted. There are hints about fairly hot activities such as spanking, but only in a surprisingly detached style. da Costa has written much more arousingly elsewhere about this. The plot concerns a young, handsome, virile young man who is found wandering, with lost memory, by a forty-something widow who runs a successful business. She has friends who have strongly sensuous tendencies, and it is inevitable, despite these other sexual distractions, that she and the young man will become lovers. There is a mildly orgiastic party, much in the same way that less restrained erotica has really orgiastic parties, to broaden its who-plays-with-whom base of partners, and there is a happy ending. I would imagine the book could well appeal to women who need some mildly erotic stimulus, and as this is, I suspect, the Black Lace market, who am I to carp? However, I did find it a bit uninspiring.
