Since its first broadcast in the 1920s it has inspired poems, songs and novels in addition to its intended objective of warning generations of seafarers of impending storms and gales. About the Author
Charlie Connelly is a 32-year-old travel writer. His previous book Stamping Grounds followed the Liechtenstein national football team through their qualifying campaign for the 2002 World Cup; this volume sees Charlie explore the areas behind the shipping forecast.
Charlie writes regularly for the Glasgow Herald, and has contributed to Arena, FourFourTwo, BBC Match of the Day, the Sunday Herald and Time Out. His media appearances include BBC Radio 4’s Excess Baggage, the World Service, BBC Five Live, the Big Breakfast, News 24, Sky, TalkSport and Ireland’s RTE.
