Robert Kee's work "Ireland" is a excellent book for any person interested in the History of the Ireland. It covers every major event in the History of Ireland from 8000BC and the first men to arrive on the island, to 1994 and the IRA and Loyalist Ceasefires. It has an excellent timeline of the events, and includes a reference guide to which chapter each event is covered in. This makes the book easy to use if you are looking up a specific event. The reason i gave the book 4 stars instead of the maximum five is that for some of the events of Irish history the author writes an excellent account of events but with other events he writes more briefly and passes over them a bit quickly. This maybe is due to the amount of space available in the book as it is only 300 pages. For a brief view of the major events in Irish History it is a must, but needs more detail in some areas which can be found in other books such as Robert Kee's equally excellent work "The Green Flag".
