Product Description

Afterthoughts on Lights Out
Of all my books (now, with Crying Wolf, numbering ten), Lights Out has kept a special place in my heart. It's the book where I finally learned how to do the kind of things I do. I still find myself thinking about Eddie Nye, the main character. As a bonus, I got to write about the Bahamas, my favorite place on earth. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lights Out? Lights Off!, 28 May 2004
By wilco121 (A long time ago, In a galaxy far, far away) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lights out (Mass Market Paperback)
it started off promising. A guy named Eddie is coming up for paroll in prison... a little bit of background is given about his sentance. I did get a bit confused as to what was current & what was background / historical, but bear with it as a different style of writing deserves a chance. This problem, however seemed to be an outlying issue throughout the whole read for me as it constantly dipped into flashbacks without warning, introducing a new beverage of characters and then back into the main story in a completely different place and time. I dont think i have ever read a book, where i have flicked back and forth quite as much in order to re read, cross reference and generally make sense of this very erratic story. Phrases like "come again", "hang on... ", "did i miss something?" frequented my vocabulary that week. after eventually finishing it i still had no clue as to the relevance of some charcaters, the significance of events and overall what actually had happened in this book. i began to once again flick through again trying to make sense - only frustrating me more, and highlighting the ridiculous elements of the story. I soon dropped the idea of re-reading and put it down to expeience. a bad experience.

personally would not recommend.
