I enjoyed this book so much I am now reading it for the second time! This story of a family's life in the African wilderness is so moving, so funny, so heartbreaking and dramatic that one can hardly bear to put the book down. Not only does the author have a fabulous way of conveying a story, but her love for animals just shines through. The photographs and line drawings are fabulous! I recommend this exquisite book for the whole family.

I was transported into the wilderness world of the Kruger family and didn't want the book to end! It is written with warmth and humour and filled with hair-raising encounters, hilarious incidents and endearing characters - especially of the wild, four-legged kind! I recommend this beautiful book to anyone who can read and especially to animal lovers!

This is a wonderfully, heartwarming story about life in the African bush.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Their ability to cope with hardships of their life is nothing short of courageous, but it is when they are talking about their animal companions that this book really comes to life. They have a strong and abiding love of animals, which is a lesson to us all.
