Sacred Woman is a unique and powerful book., 19 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Weaving an ancestral-rich cosmology with alternative health, Queen Afua has created a tapestry which will heal women's bodies and women's souls.Sacred Woman takes the reader through a 21-day self help plan for harnessing the powerful energy force within to teach women how to: prevent or eliminate womb diseases; heal from womb attacks such as rape, incest and other sexual abuses; and make childbirth easier; as well as tips on how to create self esteem and love, become more spiritually empower and attract a more divine partner. The issue of African (American) women's health has been Queen Afua's primary concern for over 20 years. So the advice is authoritative yet accessible. Beautifully illustrated throughout, Sacred Woman's quest of healing through the wisdom of African ancestors, opens with an introduction to Khamitic philosophy and begins with the empowering words: "My people are the Elders of the Earth". Part two, features chapters on womb problems, and how to detoxify emotionally and physically before commencing intensive womb rejuvenation work. Part three - The Nine Gateways - provides directions on how to resolve painful personal issues. With a good balance of information and practical exercises, you learn the importance of spiritualising your words, the food you eat, the space you live in and your relationships. So often books on self-healing and self-empowerment written by women of African ancestry, are filled with words of wisdom from non-African sources. One is left feeling that African spiritual cosomology is not a complete system within itself. If you have been searching for a book which pays respect to the richness and beauty of the African spiritual way of life...there is no need to look any further. If you have been searching for a woman of African ancestry who has taken the art of womanhood to a spiritual level, to emulate...then look no further. Sacred Woman is the source. Dip in and bathe your soul with our foremothers and forefathers healing tears, as you drink in their words of wisdom to birth a new you. Reviewed by Meseret Kentake
