3.0 out of 5 stars An end of a telepath?, 14 Oct 1999
By A Customer
After reading the first two books of this set of books I was looking forward to reading this book.

Unfortunatly this book disappoints. The first two books were a history of both PsiCorps and Bester. This book gives the story of what happens to Bester after the telepath war.

Bester is great, as always and it was good seeing another side of him. The characters overall were well written but the storyline lacked any real punch.

The first two books went well from one to another but this book ended up more as a standalone rather than the end of the trilogy. If you haven't seen the fifth season of Babylon 5 then you will find it difficult to understand why things are happening.

It is a pity that this book isn't as good as the ones before, but it fittingly continues the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book. And a great look at what finally happens to Bester-but not without a few short comeings , 6 May 2006
Ok first please don't let the 4 stars fool you this is a great book, and a must have for any B5 Fan as it tells us what happened to Bester and also throws in some allusions to things that could have happened in the cancelled Crusade series.

The Plot is excelent and we really get a scence of how tired Bester is of running and his desire to live out the rest of his days, his Characterisation seamed a little off but that could be explained by his illness.

The Garibaldi segments were great and J. Gregory Keyes really does write B5 well.

Thre only problem i saw with the book were the presence of things like Cell phones and cars, when in the series they used portable link devices, i.e. ristbands, palm links and pen links. and ground vehercles were called skimmers.

other than this the book is great, and i recomend you get your copy and keep it in a safe place as the events dipicted are acknoledged by JMS as cannon for the B5 Universe.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fitting end to a fantastic trilogy, 8 Aug 2000
By A Customer
The third book of the trilogy tells the story of Bester as an old man tring to live out the rest his life. Sounds boring? Well it is a bit. There's more to it but that would spoil the plot. However if you've read the other books in the trilogy this is a brilliant conclusion. With the added bonus of Garibaldi he makes the story more intresting and thrilling, and like the other books tells the story from both views. I don't think fans of the show would like it though if they haven't read the others simply because it lacks deep plot and doesn't answer as many questions of the series as the previous two books. But all in all a very good and interesting portrayal of Bester as an old man. The best and worst part is it leaves you feeling empty (oh no! it can't end! ) like the end of series 5.

2.0 out of 5 stars Adequate - and not much else
As a big Bester fan, I rushed out to buy this book the moment it was in the shops. It's a testament to how tepid I found that it has spent the last few months in my attic. Read more
