5.0 out of 5 stars Essential information for all Julian May fans! Fantastic!!, 28 Oct 1999
By A Customer
"You'll be sort of surprised what there is to be found once you go beyond Z and start poking around." - from On Beyond Zebra, Dr Seuss.

Interviews with JM; a chronology of the Saga of the Exiles; the Remillard Family Tree; Ocala Rebels and their Offspring; Maps of Pliocene Europe; the good ship Kyllikki. If this means nothing to you then you don't want this book. If, however, you are reading this review then the chances are that each of these brings a flood of memories and a burning desire to see Julian complete yet another trilogy to answer those unanswered questions - like, whatever happened to Felice and why were there hints that she was in some way connected to the great carbuncle? This book doesn't have all the answers but it does clarify all the unanswered questions and goes some way to explaining why they were left that way. This book is the essential guide for all Julian May fans. The Saga of the Exiles is a complex tapestry of past, present and future history. 'A Pliocene Companion' makes sure you don't get lost on the journey as you find your way through the four books of the series and the four books that are the root of the series. Julian May does not compare to other science fiction/fantasy writers - she is unique in ways which only a reader can identify with. As a true fan I know I wouldn't be lost without this book - but with it I always know "exactly" where I am. Oh, and it's nice to note that the Pliocene Wildcat lives!
