Review

'The wicked wolf of Wall Street ... Cocaine. Girls. James Bond cars. Billion-dollar deals and jail for fraud ... the outrageous memoirs of the real Gordon Gekko' -- Daily Mail 'A cocky bad boy of finance recalls ... [his] career as a master of his own universe ... A hell of a read.' -- Kirkus 'A memoir that reads like fiction ... [about a] vast amount of sex, drugs and risky physical behavior Belfort managed to survive.' -- Publishers Weekly 'Reads like a cross between Tom Wolfes Bonfire of the Vanities and Scorseses Goodfellas ... Laugh-out-loud funny' -- The Sunday Times 'Gleefully crass and terribly sad [but] you actually feel for the guy' -- Rolling Stone 'This book reads like The Financial World presented by Ozzy Osbourne ... One reads a book like this for tales of excess, and Belfort certainly delivers, to the point where you long for a night in with Dad's Army and something eggy on a plate.' -- Mail on Sunday 'For those not completely familiar with Wall Street, this is an important read. Think of it as a tour of the sort of underbelly of the financial market scene, the dark side of which, in some form, is always out there. For those more experienced, this can be, plain and simple, a fun read.' -- TheStreet.com

4.0 out of 5 stars A thouroughly enjoyable read, 3 Jun 2008

Sure you have understand this is a virgin author, and there are some gaps such as the missing years - the early ones, but look upon this as a wonderfuly honest tale, and so funny i laughed out loud many times. He has an interesting lifestyle and he is a guy with true charisma !
Looking forward to the sequel !

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally complelling, totally insane, 22 Sep 2008

Wow, what a book. I read it practically cover to cover on a long haul flight, I just couldn't put it down.

Jordan Belfort is like James Bond gone bad. His life represents excess in every way conceivable - money, drugs and women. But the strange thing is that no matter what he does you can't but help find yourself liking the guy as you read his book. The writing isn't top drawer to be truthful but that really doesn't matter because this book grips you from the first page.

For aspiring Gordon Gekko's - this book will not give you any useful insights into how to be a successful businessman. What it does is tell a story that is so crazy you'd it swear must be fiction, if you didn't know it was true.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compulsively readable, 2 Aug 2009

I loved this book and simply couldn't put it down. Despite the greed of Jordan's early professional life he is such a likeable and intelligent man you can't really dislike him. I couldn't bear it at the end when his marriage falls apart, to me the book was a description of a feisty and wonderful love story that came to a very sad end. All very upsetting. I'm longing for the next installment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, returning it for a refund.
A complete waste of money, his writing style is hideous and his stories are boring and tedious to a degree I imagined impossible until reading the first few pages of this book.
