I only got about halfway through reading the book before i couldnt take anymore. I actully felt sick reading the detail of of a boy being raped, its just too graphic and sickening. If i had known the book had this kind of storyline i would never have bought it.
Not for the faint hearted!

I read this book from cover to cover to see if it was likely to get better or if the author had given any of the characters any sense. Sadly the characters are either evil or thick, the book has far too much male rape - one got the impression the author was fasinated by this, and far too little story line. All in all a waste of good money.

I gave this book to a friend for Christmas as we are both Meg Hutchinson fans. What a shock when we read it. I think this is the most unpleasant book I have ever read. The graphic descriptions of the rapes of the young boy and the main character are not necessary - the events could have been covered adequately without such detailed descriptions. I hope Ms Hutchinson will not feel that she needs to maintain a good storyline in such a way in future books.
