Product Description

Product Description
Dan Fordham is a compelling, charismatic teacher in his mid-thirties, adored by many of his students and by his 14-year-old daughter, Caitlin, who lives with him during the week. When Dan is accused of molesting a girl in one of his GCSE classes, nobody really believes it, with the exception of Aaron, a boy in his accuser’s form. He corroborates part of 15-year-old Natasha Harris’s story. Dan is suspended. Caitlin is crushed and confused. At first she unreservedly believes her father. She collects stories to help discredit Natasha. But why did her mother leave her father five years ago? And why does she sense there is more to the allegation than her father is telling?

4.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing..., 8 May 2005
By A Customer
I found that this was a brilliantly written book, but i also feel a little disturbed by it. I don't really want to say why because that would reveal the plot. Its like I know that its just words on paper, but it felt so real. Then the main thing is that this sort of thing can happen in real life. If your looking for a story that has you gripped until the end, and is based around what happens in real life. Then 'Denial' is the right book for you...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disturbing..., 19 Jun 2008
By Rachel (England) - See all my reviews
I didn't think much of the story for the whole book (minus the last 3 pages). It isn't written well - and there were a few points throughout where certain parts weren't explained clearly.

My main issue was with the last 3 pages. I'm not sure if I misread the back or about the book, but i had no hint whatsoever about what was coming. So, as a warning, I would not let under 16 year olds read this, and even with that age I'd be cautious. The ending takes an unseen turn and the whole story is completely flipped, leaving the reader feeling pretty confused and somewhat horrified. The epilogue is written terribly, I must say.

I'm hesitant to spoil the ending for any of you who actually do intend to read the book, just go with my warning that it is unexpected and a lot caution is needed. To be honest, I was pretty disgusted with the ending and from that the book in total.

The only good point is that the book was a quick read. I do not advise reading, even for those with similar circumstances - a horrible sitation and I sympathise with those people greatly, but for a touching subject - I do not feel that it was dealt with well. At all.

5.0 out of 5 stars very surprising, 29 Mar 2008

i found this in Waterstones one day and i thought the back of the book looked very interesting, the issues within this book i have dealt with myself and so found it would be useful to discover what another characters perceptions would be of it. The book seemed to be heading in a unsurprising path - yet still good, but it is only at the very end of this book that the true shocking moment is revealed. Without giving the plot away i have been in the exact same situation as Cate and was very moved by how her ending was dealt with it has an extremely shocking moment at the end, i would reccomend this book to anyone, definately buy you will not be dissapointed.
