5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction / supplement to A-Level Trigonometry, 10 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Before I read this book, my understanding of Trigonometry was peripheral and the concepts were not clear in my mind. Having worked through the book, I have learned to like Trigonometry and feel confident of handling most problems in this topic. This book complemented the material covered in the Cap & Gown A-Level mathematical videos and my Edexcel Pure Maths text books.

The author, Percy Abbot, starts with the basic concepts and steadily builds upon them through the book. In this way, he is able handle more complex concepts in a manner that an A-Level student understands, or for any beginner in Trigonometry.

Additionally, Percy throws light upon the historical background of the topic. In particular, I found Chapter 10: "Ratios of Compund Angles" very useful as it explained the matter clearly. The book includes a comprehensive summary of trigonometrical formulae and a simple glossary. I would strongly recommend this book to my A-Level colleagues and to anyone starting to learn Trigonometry.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good buy..., 10 Aug 2003
Coming from someone who needed a quick and simple introduction to Trigonometry and Trig Functions, I found this book extremely useful. Each chapter is dedicated to a given topic of Trig, which includes a number of clear and well laid out examples, theory, and then followed by a large number of questions (with answers in the back). The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars would be the fact that although it tried to pick up straight from a high school (GCSE) level, it wasn't spot on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little book, 16 Mar 2009
By G. Wright (Sussex) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Provides a clear no-nonsense, no-muddling introduction to trignometry. I would say this book will set you up satisfactorily for higher study of the subject.
