3.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Useful, 9 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This is a really good book for people who need a basic and easy to read introduction to digital photography. It does not go into unecessary detail and covers most things that you would need to do/use when you first start using digital images; a good introduction to digital photography/scanning. My one criticism is that it does tend to over generalise with regard to software. Maybe it would be better to concentrate on one package rather than trying to cover several (not necessarily the best known) image editing applications. Nevertheless a useful basic guide.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor photography book., 19 Jun 2009
By G. Ingram (dundee) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book as I am a beginning photography and thought it would be a good introduction book. I was wrong. It covers the very basics in photography but has no mention of aperture, shutter speeds, ISO, White balance etc....

Does have a lot on manipulating images with software but not a lot on taking the actual photographs.

Cheap but not very cheerful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what was expected, 23 Mar 2009
When I bought this book, I thought it is going to be about photography. But things about photography takes about 1/4 of this book. The rest is about software and how to edit pictures with Photoshop. It does NOT give you 'comprehensive knowledge' as stated on the cover about photography (although it gives you a lot of knowledge about photo editing).
Overall, not a book if you want to learn about digital cameras and taking great pictures with them.
