4.0 out of 5 stars Try to source an earlier edition, 13 Jun 2005
By A Customer
I first found this book in my university library, and found it extremely useful. I decided to order myself a copy as the book was due back to the library, but the current edition does not do justice to the original edition (early 1990s) that I found in my library.
This edition does still teach you the basics of calculus, but there are many good bits missing, such as this edition no longer has a chapter on partial differentiation, and the section on ordinary differential equations seems to have been condensed a bit and doesn't seem as well explained. This is because the editor has changed. However, it is still a good book to teach you the fundamentals and is a bargain considering most university texts (though much bulkier and expansive than this) are probably atleast 4 times the price.
