Product Description

Review
I have dabbled with Pascal in college but that was quite a few years ago. I decided I would teach myself C++. I have read a lot of online material trying to learn C++ but I needed something that would lay it out step-by-step and explain everything clearly with easy to undersatand and relevent examples as I am a complete beginner. If you are in the same position as me then order this book now... it is 185 pages of invaluable, well writen, clear information. It doesn't bore you with useless information but it does go into enough detail so you understand exactly what you are doing and why you are doing it each step of the way. Trust me when I say, if you are a beginner then this book will give you a solid foundation on which to build on. It did for me. -- Amazon.co.uk As a complete beginner to C++ I rate this book over the much more expensive books I have bought. It is clear, concise & well written. It uses well thought out examples for every concept. Don't be fooled by large, expensive C++ guides: this book is reasonably priced and all that is needed to get started in C++. -- Amazon.co.uk Having chosen a final year's university project involving C++ I realised that my knowledge of the language was sorely limited. My university professor was quick to recommend Riley's work. I ordered a copy and was incredibly impressed by the clarity and conciseness of this guide. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to program in C++ and even to those who already possess some knowledge. -- Amazon.co.uk

Product Description
There are many reasons for learning C++, but whether you are doing so out of choice or necessity "Teach Yourself C++" will give you a solid foundation in one of today's most widely used languages. In programming, too many people try to learn to code without really understanding what is going on - like learning a foreign language before learning to talk. C++ is a highly advanced language so this book starts from the very basics and does not bombard you with the technicalities of low-level hardware. You will be given a thorough grounding to enable you to write fast, efficient and effective software.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well thought out book for the complete novice, 10 Nov 2001
By A Customer
This book doesn't try and pack in every intricacy of the C++ language but puts the emphasis on understanding through well chosen and unrepetitive examples. It also has a pleasant open style of writing. For those who already know C half of the book will be wasted on you. But for the novice programmer this book is ideal.
